Located in the southeast of the Czech Republic, the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant has been a cornerstone of the country’s energy system since its commissioning in the mid-1980s. With four VVER-440 pressurized water reactors, Dukovany provides a total net electrical output of around 2,000 MW. The plant generates over 14 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually—covering more than a fifth of national electricity consumption and playing a key role in reducing the Czech Republic’s reliance on fossil fuels.
