Located in Gyeongju, South Korea, the Wolsong Nuclear Power Plant is a cornerstone of the nation’s nuclear power program. The site is unique in South Korea for operating CANDU (Canadian Deuterium Uranium) pressurized heavy water reactors, which use natural uranium as fuel. With four units providing a combined net capacity of over 2,700 MW, Wolsong has been a consistent and reliable source of low-carbon electricity since the 1980s, playing a key role in supporting South Korea’s energy stability and environmental goals.
