Description
AISI 317 is an austenitic stainless steel known for its superior corrosion resistance, particularly in acidic environments. This material contains higher levels of molybdenum compared to 316 stainless steel, enhancing its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. AISI 317 is ideal for applications in the chemical processing, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries, where it is often used for tanks, piping, and heat exchangers exposed to corrosive substances. The alloy performs well in both high-temperature and high-stress environments. AISI 317 is suitable for open-die forging and machining, allowing for the production of robust and precise components. Its excellent weldability and formability further increase its versatility, making it a preferred choice for demanding industrial applications requiring long-lasting performance and superior corrosion resistance.
